Who gives a Hoot?
Social media marketing has taken the business world by storm. Who would have thought that there would actually be companies that hire people to manage their social media accounts? More businesses, associations and law firms have recognized the power and reach of marketing on social media.
Social media allows you to actively engage with potential clients as well as other legal professionals. If you post your blog on your firm’s site it may get a couple hundred views, but share the post on Twitter and you can reach thousands
The key to successful social media marketing is using the right tools. Social media management can be time consuming. I’ve found Hootsuite to be a great help in managing social media.
Here are some of the benefits of using Hootsuite for your social media management:
Scheduling: Consistency is key when building your social media presence. Many people are excited about the idea of starting their firm social media page, but quickly struggle finding the time to maintain it. Hootsuite allows you to schedule your posts as you go.
Chrome Extension: The Hootsuite extension is an excellent tool. Have you ever been browsing the latest legal news and run across a story that was worth sharing? Instead of logging into Twitter, copying and pasting the link and coming up with a heading—simply click the Hootsuite extension. The extension will generate the tweet and allow you to choose when you want to send it out.
Shorten Links: When I first started managing social media, I would log in to Twitter and head over to bitly.com to copy story links in order to shorten them for posting on Twitter. However, Hootsuite shortens the link for you.
Dashboard: Hootsuite’s dashboard enables you to see all your social media at once. You are able to customize your dashboard based on items you want to monitor. For example, in our current dashboard I am able to keep our mentions and regular feed separate. The dashboard also displays our Twitter lists as well. The dashboard makes it easier to follow conversations and engage with other Twitter users.
Analytics: Hootsuite analytics takes the guess work out of your social media efforts. You are able to see what topics are popular among your followers and which ones don’t seem to get as much attention.
Publisher: In the publisher screen of Hootsuite you are able to monitor all your scheduled tweets. Hootsuite also lets you look back at your previous posts. Hootsuite publisher makes it easy to make changes to your scheduled posts as well.
Plan Options: Hootsuite, like most social media management offers a basic, free plan. However, if you’re looking to include more options (including comprehensive analytics reports), you may benefit from a paid plan. Hootsuite Pro is offered for $9.99 a month.
