Lawyers Mutual Announces Changes to Its Board of Directors
Lawyers Mutual, North Carolina’s leading provider of professional liability insurance for lawyers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas (Nick) Bakatsias to its Board of Directors, effective Friday, July 25, 2025. Nick succeeds longtime board member June Basden, who will transition to Emeritus status.
Nick holds a B.A. from Duke University (summa cum laude, 2002), a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law (2005), and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law (2006). He has been actively involved in both the Business Law and Tax Sections of the North Carolina Bar Association for several years.
Nick was named to Business North Carolina magazine’s 2025 Legal Elite for Business Law and recognized in the 2025 edition of North Carolina Super Lawyers in the area of Business & Corporate Law. Previously, Nick received the following honors: Business North Carolina: Legal Elite (2018, 2024-2025), North Carolina Super Lawyers (2022-2025), and North Carolina Super Lawyers: Rising Star (2012-2013, 2018-2020).

June Basden retires from the Board after 18 years of service. An attorney with Carruthers & Roth, P.A., in Greensboro, her area of practice covers a wide range of commercial transactions with a focus on commercial lending and creditors’ rights.
