Lawyers Mutual Welcomes New Board Member Ted Edwards
Lawyers Mutual, North Carolina’s leading provider of professional liability insurance for lawyers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Theodore (Ted) Edwards II to its Board of Directors, effective Friday, July 24, 2026. Ted succeeds longtime board member Ron Gibson, who will transition to Emeritus status. Ted’s distinguished career and awards reflect his dedication and excellence, inspiring confidence in his leadership.
Ted holds a B.A. from Duke University and received his J. D. from the Duke University School of Law. Ted served as the President of the Wake County Bar Association in 2012 and as a North Carolina State Bar Councilor from 2013 to 2022.
In 2024, Ted received the John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award from the North Carolina State Bar. Previously, Ted was recognized with the North Carolina Bar Association’s Citizen Lawyer Award (2011), received the Bar Association’s William L. Thorpe Bro Bono Attorney Award (2006), profiled as a North Carolina Lawyers Weekly “Up and Coming Lawyer in North Carolina” (2004), and was recognized by the Triangle Business Journal for its “40 Under 40” list (2002).

Ron Gibson retires from the Board after 14 years of service. An attorney with Ruff, Bond, Cobb, Wade, and Bethune, LLP, in Charlotte, his area of practice focuses on corporate, business law, and general practice.
