Mark Scruggs receives The John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award from the State Bar
Lawyers Mutual Senior Claims Counsel, Mark Scruggs has been selected as a recipient of The John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award. The John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award program honors current and retired members of the North Carolina State Bar throughout the state who have demonstrated exemplary service to the legal profession. Members of the Bar are encouraged to nominate colleagues who have demonstrated outstanding service to the profession.
Mark Scruggs was nominated by fellow Senior Claims Counsel, Warren Savage. Warren has worked alongside Scruggs for 14 years as a member of the claims team. Warren had this to say about his colleague:
“It’s hard to imagine a lawyer more dedicated to the betterment of our profession than Mark Scruggs. Mark has served our state’s lawyers as a mentor, a CLE teacher of ethics and best practices, a leader in NCBA and State Bar committees, a counselor for aggrieved lawyers in difficult times, and a boundless source of comfort, legal wisdom and practical advice for any lawyer with a question or concern. In short, Mark’s career has been dedicated to his missions of helping lawyers help their clients and better themselves. I’m so happy the State Bar is recognizing him with its highest honor.”
The John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award was presented by NC State Bar President, Colon Willoughby of McGuire Woods, during a special luncheon hosted by the 10th Judicial District of the NC State Bar and the Wake County Bar Association on December 3, 2019.
