Lawyers Mutual announces changes to Claims team
Cary, N.C.—Lawyers Mutual is proud to announce changes to their claims team. Mark Scruggs and Warren Savage have been named senior claims counsels. Claire Modlin, who is currently an underwriter, will join the claims team as senior claims counsel as well.
Claire Modlin joined Lawyers Mutual in 2017. Prior to joining Lawyers Mutual, she practiced in the areas of civil litigation, medical malpractice defense, alternate dispute resolution, breach of contract, insurance defense, transportation, environmental and toxic torts, pharmaceutical and antitrust litigation. Claire brings a wealth of litigation and risk management experience to Lawyers Mutual after actively practicing in both large and medium sized firms in North Carolina for 22 years.

Mark Scruggs joined Lawyers Mutual in 2001, and Warren Savage joined the company in 2005.
Mark is formerly a partner with Spear, Barnes, Baker, Wainio & Scruggs, LLP in Durham, North Carolina, he has over 14 years’ experience as a trial attorney concentrating in insurance defense litigation. For the last 17 years, Mark has worked with Lawyers Mutual primarily in litigation-related claims and workers compensation and family law matters.
Warren focuses on litigation, insurance law, appellate advocacy, criminal matters and professional responsibility in his work with Lawyers Mutual. A former partner with the law firm of Bailey & Dixon, Warren graduated from the University of Virginia and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before graduating magna cum laude from Campbell University School of Law. Warren currently serves as NC State Bar Councilor for District 10 and speaks frequently at CLEs around the state about professional responsibility and malpractice claims avoidance.
