Lawyers Mutual Board Member Sharon Parker Selected as Recipient of the North Carolina Bar Association Citizen Lawyer Award
Cary, NC – Lawyers Mutual Board of Director Sharon Parker has been selected as a recipient of the North Carolina Bar Association Citizen Lawyer Award. She is among a dozen lawyers honored at the NCBA Annual Convention for their exemplary public service to their communities.
Parker has volunteered in leadership positions with several McDowell County organizations. She chaired the Non-profit Support Committee of The McDowell Endowment to increase financial resources available to non-profits and service organization in McDowell County. Sharon led efforts by the Board Recruitment and Development Committee of the McDowell County Non-Profit and Service Organization [NPO] Group to increase the diversity and pool of volunteers and potential Board members for non-profits within the county. Parker also served as Secretary to the McDowell County Health Coalition, on the First United Methodist Church Board of Trustees and Leadership and Nominations Committee and as President of the McDowell County Bar Association.
Parker was previously honored as a recipient of the Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, and the Gwyneth B. Davis Award from the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys for outstanding contribution to the promotion of women lawyers and the rights of women under the law. Sharon received the 2012 McDowell County Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award for her work supporting and finding resources for non-profits and service agencies serving McDowell County.

Parker joined the Lawyers Mutual Board of Directors in 1999. She began managing her own firm after spending many years as a partner at Dameron, Burgin, Parker, Jackson, Wilde & Walker, P.A.. Her practice focuses on business law, estate planning and administration, health care law and board governance law.
