Lawyers Mutual Board Member William Pappas Receives the first Alfred L. Purrington III Memorial Public Service Award Presented by the Business Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association
Lawyers Mutual proudly announces that Board of Directors member William “Bill” Pappas received the first Alfred L. Purrington III Memorial Public Service Award presented by the Business Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association on Friday, February 14, at the section annual meeting in Pinehurst.
The award was established in early 2019 to honor the memory of Alfred L. Purrington III, the founder of the NCBA’s Business Law Section and a dedicated public servant.
Pappas has a passion for improving the lives of children that shows in his leadership with local organizations. He served on the board of directors for Marbles Kids Museum from 2002 to 2008. He joined Raleigh Kiwanis Foundation board of directors two years ago and is currently serving as its vice president.
“This award reaffirms what we already know and admire about Bill. It is a testament to his strong belief in and selfless dedication to serving his community,” Lawyers Mutual President and CEO Dan Zureich stated, “I can think of no one more deserving to receive the inaugural award. Lawyers Mutual is honored to have Bill serve on our board of directors.”
Pappas joined the Lawyers Mutual Board in 2010. He is a partner with Parker Poe in Raleigh and practices a wide range of business law and transactional issues. Pappas leads Parker Poe's Life Sciences Industry Team.
Pappas was nominated by his longtime law partner, NCBA Past President Catharine Arrowood.
