Lawyers Mutual Western Carolina Community Board Member Jackie Grant is NCBA President
We are pleased to announce and celebrate community board member Jackie Grant who has been named President of the NCBA. Jackie has served on our Western Carolina Community Board since its installation in 2015.
Jackie is the 124th president of the North Carolina Bar Association. Chief Justice Mark Martin of the N.C. Supreme Court administered the oath of office on June 23, at the Wilmington Convention Center during the NCBA’s annual meeting.
Jackie is a partner and litigator at Roberts & Stevens. In 2016, Jackie was recognized at the annual meeting as a Citizen Lawyer recipient. Jackie was a distinguished member of the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors from 2010-2013. She served as President of the 28th Judicial District (Buncombe County) Bar Association from 2014-2015 and has been recognized as a North Carolina Super Lawyer in Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice since 2011. Jackie was elected to Business North Carolina magazine’s Legal Elite for Employment Law in 2013, 2016 and 2017.
Jackie is an Asheville native and is active in her community. She has served on the boards of several local organizations including the YWCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Western North Carolina and the City of Asheville Sustainable Economic Development Task Force. Professionally, she is a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, Defense Research Institute, North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, and North Carolina Bar Association Litigation Council.

Jackie succeeds former NCBA President Caryn Coppedge McNeill. Jackie’s new role makes her one of eight women who have served as president of the North Carolina Bar Association and the first woman west of Charlotte to ever hold this position.
