Renee Riggsbee Announces Retirement; Kathy Fisher Appointed Vice President of Underwriting
Lawyers Mutual bids farewell to Vice President of Underwriting, Renee Riggsbee. Renee is retiring after 18 years of service to Lawyers Mutual. Kathy Fisher, a current member of the underwriting team, will assume the role of Vice President of Underwriting.
Renee joined Lawyers Mutual in 1994 as Claims Counsel, where she worked for three years before being appointed by Governor Hunt as a Commissioner on the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Renee returned to Lawyers Mutual in 2003 and was appointed Vice President of Underwriting in 2009. She is a graduate of Meredith College and UNC School of Law.
“I have spent most of my legal career with Lawyers Mutual and have valued the opportunity to serve North Carolina lawyers. I look forward to my next adventure but will miss the daily interactions with our policyholders and with my colleagues and friends at Lawyers Mutual,” says Renee.
“Kathy and I have worked together for the last four years, and I am confident that she will transition easily into her leadership role in Underwriting.”
Kathy Fisher joined Lawyers Mutual in 2015 as an underwriter. Prior to joining the company, she was a partner with Yates McLamb & Weyher, LLP and an associate with Patterson, Dilthey, Clay, Bryson and Anderson, LLP. Kathy has over 14 years of experience as a trial attorney in the areas of medical malpractice, professional malpractice, workers’ compensation, and defending municipalities and police officers in constitutional claims. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Campbell University School of Law.
“Renee has been my mentor and friend and I appreciate the wisdom, teaching, and support I have received from her. I look forward to continuing to build long-lasting relationships with and providing exceptional service to our policyholders,” says Kathy.
Renee and Kathy will continue to work together through the end of 2018 when Renee officially bids farewell to Lawyers Mutual.
