Ellen Wortman joined the Board of Directors in 2019 and previously served on the Eastern Carolina Community Board from 2014 to 2019. Ms. Wortman is an attorney in Wilmington with The Wortman Law Firm, PLLC. Her practice focuses on the formation and governance of community associations and in litigation matters. Ms. Wortman has been an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association, serving as Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Division Membership Committee, member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Women In The Profession Committee, and member of the Insurance Law Section Council. She also served on the Board of Directors of the New Hanover County Bar Association. Ms. Wortman is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and was a Wake Law Faculty Scholar at Wake Forest University School of Law. She was named one of North Carolina’s 2011 and 2012 Rising Stars in Business Litigation, recognized by Best Lawyer’s in America for personal injury-defense litigation in 2015 and 2016 and included in the “Legal Elite” by Business North Carolina in 2024.
