Lawyers Mutual Declares Dividend
Lawyers Mutual Liability Insurance Company of North Carolina has declared a $1.28 million dividend, equal to approximately 7.5% of the premium charged on insurance policies issued in 2013. This dividend, which will be paid at policy expiration, represents the tenth time since 1999 that Lawyers Mutual has declared and paid a policyholder dividend.
President Dan Zureich had this to say about the dividend, “We are extremely pleased to again be able to reward our loyal policyholders by sharing our financial success through policyholder dividends. As a mutual insurance company, returning capital to our policyholders is a priority. Putting our policyholders’ interests first and not having to face the conflicting demands of stockholders is why I believe the mutual model is the most appropriate for insurance companies.”
Ken McAllister, Chairman of the Lawyers Mutual Board of Directors stated, “Policyholder support and staff execution produced an extraordinary year for your company. Financial returns to policyholders are important. But the true value of your company is claims repair and North Carolina lawyers serving North Carolina lawyers."
