LM Board Member Doris R. Bray Receives Greensboro Bar Association Award for Distinguished Service
Lawyers Mutual Board member Doris R. Bray of Guilford County was honored by the Greensboro Bar Association as a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. Bray, a lawyer with Schell Bray Aycock & Abel has served on the Lawyers Mutual Board since 1983. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes a member for deep devotion and constant commitment to the law, the administration of justice, the highest ethical principles, and dedicated public service.
Bray is a past president of the Greensboro Bar Association, has served on the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors and as Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Business Law Section. Bray has served for 20 years as a member, and as vice chair and chair of the North Carolina General Statutes Commission, a state commission charged with monitoring and updating the statutory laws of North Carolina. She also served on the drafting committees for the rewrites of the North Carolina Business Corporation Act and the North Carolina Nonprofit Corporation Act.
Bray is consistently recognized as among the best lawyers in her field through mentions in such publications as Woodward/White, Inc. The Best Lawyers in America (corporate, leveraged buyouts, private equity, mergers and acquisitions and securities) and Business North Carolina, Legal Elite Hall of Fame (business law).
Bray is also a former recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, which is among the most prestigious awards presented by the Governor of North Carolina to a citizen in recognition of extraordinary service to the state of North Carolina.
