North Carolina’s Largest Lawyer Insurance Company Launches First Community Board in Charlotte

Lawyers Mutual names 12 attorneys to one of a series of advisory panels planned across the state.

Cary, N.C. – November 19, 2012. In an innovative effort to stay in touch with its insured lawyers, Lawyers Mutual Liability Insurance Company has created its first-ever Community Board in Charlotte.

The board is comprised of 12 attorneys from the Mecklenburg County area. The idea is to create a grass-roots link between the company’s home office in Cary and its insureds across the state.

“This is a new and exciting opportunity for North Carolina attorneys,” says Lawyers Mutual Director of Client Services Camille Stell. “It has been in the planning stages for some time and we are thrilled to finally roll it out.”

Stell says the Community Board is designed to be responsive to the needs of the practicing bar in the Mecklenburg area. The goals are to:

• Strengthen local ties and relationships;
• Create ambassadors for Lawyers Mutual, which as a mutual company is owned by its policyholders;
• Educate local lawyers about the company’s legacy as the nation’s first lawyer-owned and operated malpractice provider;
• Gather feedback on current products and benefits;
• Solicit suggestions for new services.

The first meeting of the Charlotte Community Board was held in early November with a luncheon followed by a presentation and orientation session.

“The Charlotte board is the first of what we anticipate will be three to five boards across the state,” says Stell. “Many of its members are our long-time insureds. This is a way to thank them for their loyalty over the years and to develop an even closer partnership.”
